Battle River
The Battle River singers have been one of the most decorated traditional singing groups of our time. Originally formed by brothers, Mack, Keveon, and Kevin Kingbird, they sing an original style of pow wow music. Battle River is a Red Lake Ojibwe drum group who has retained a lot of the original songs of the Red Lake people. Their new compositions are inspired by their teachers, fathers, uncles and grandfathers of Northern Minnesota. They come from the Red Lake Reservation where there have been many legends that have inspired pow wow music today. Many of them bear the Kingbird name.
